TACK is an acronym for Titanium - Anywhere Card Knife which is hand made in our shop located in Boston, MA USA.
There's a lot of credit card type tools out there that are more of a novelty and not very useful. We wanted to make a knife that was slim enough to carry in your wallet, but serious enough to use if needed. So we put our heads together and came up with TACK. The end result was a tool that just simply made sense once you held it in your hand.
Our goal was to design TACK to be as thin and light as possible, without compromising structural integrity. We wanted to make TACK practical and functional, while being suitable for every day carry. So we made it similar in size to a credit card, so it could conveniently fit in your wallet.
TACK is designed and hand made in the USA from grade 5 titanium (6AL-4V). We chose titanium because it's ultra lightweight, twice as strong as steel, anti-corrosive, and rust proof. You could actually leave TACK at the bottom of the ocean floor for 100 years and it would look the same as it did on day 1! Due to the the many benefits of titanium, it is commonly used in the aerospace, military, and medical industries. It was the perfect choice of materials for something that was going to live in your wallet.
Weight: Approximately .5 oz
Materials: 6AL4V Titanium (Standard Titanium Model) or US Sourced 6AL4V Titanium & Carbon Fiber (Limited Edition)
Size: 2" x 3.25" x .060"-.080" (50mm x 80mm x 1.2mm)
Approximately the thickness of two credit cards (Std. Titanium Version)
TACK is designed to be held in a two or three finger grip method. This natural hold method allows you to get a secure grip on the knife and get maximum control. TACK also features an optional Tungsten Carbide Edge treatment, which is applied by micro-welding. The Tungsten Carbide increases edge hardness of the softer titanium to something similar to a stainless steel. The tungsten also places micro serrated teeth on your edge giving TACK a more "toothy" ripping edge. As the softer titanium wears away, more tungsten is exposed essentially self sharpening the blade. Perfect for those that want a more aggressive cutting edge.
